School so far...

So far 1st grade is going well!
In some ways I can't believe that they haven't been in school for a month yet...
and in other ways it seems like it was just summer vaca!
Kennie is enjoying her days (I think anyway).
If you ask her you might get a different story. :)

Some 1st grade tidbits:
*Makenzie's reading has improved so much just in the last 3 weeks.  I can't believe the books she can read through fluently !
*I can wait by the steps for her when she get off the bus.  She told me last week that I don't have to walk towards the bus anymore. :)
*She has a rather "social" class.  The teacher has sent a few notes home about how chatty the class is.  Makenzie says she is always quiet when she is suppose to be...I hope so!  Even at open house the teacher even commented how "friendly"
*Open house was last week and I seriously can't believe the work that they do everyday....and today they didn't even get recess. Makes me sad.
*She complains if I put bows on her now....she prefers headbands!  I try to balance it out a little bit...a couple bows a week and the rest headbands. :)
*She wants to wear pigtails almost everyday!
*Will change to sneakers for PE without giving me problems.  Last year she preferred to wear sneakers everyday, this year she likes to change!
*Loves to see some of her friends from last year that aren't in the same class this year.  She tells me everyday if she sees her friend Josie or not.  And if they do see each other they make silly faces! :)

Some cute pictures I have snapped before school....

Cuties in Camo!

I seriously can't take the cuteness!
Doesn't get much better than 2 cute little girls in camo and cowgirl boots! :)

Sleepover

A few Fridays ago we had Abbie over for a sleepover!
They are just so funny together.
They have so much fun together and then the next minute they are fighting like sisters
and then they are back to being best friends...too cute!
After dinner we went to a friend's house for an outdoor movie.
The girls had so much fun even though they both thought the movie was scary (Jumanji).
On the way back home the silliness started...
they were up past 11 being crazy!
I think they were a little over tired!:)

Citizen of the Week!

Kenzie received citizen of the week award during the first full week of school!
She was so excited!
Jo had to take a picture with the certificate too!
Monkey see, monkey do...

This year the citizens get to go up front at morning program and lead the "movement song" dances...
I think Kennie was a little embarrassed at first! :)

1st day of 1st grade!

On September 3 our little sweetie started 1st grade!
For the few weeks before school she started to get a little anxiety about heading back.
She would say that she doesn't want to go to school and that she just wants to stay home with me.
Despite all the convincing I tried she still said she wanted to change the name of her school to "garbage".
I had to laugh at that one! :)
A few days before school she did start to get excited even though I know she wouldn't admit it....

Getting her supplies ready the night before...
Getting her outfit ready...
I think 90 % of the little girls in Kennie's school have a Frozen backpack! :)

Of course, Jo had to crash some pictures!

and there she goes...
off to another year!

Labor Day

We had a great Labor Day over here.
We started the day at the parade.
Jo loved watching it!

Then we headed over the the Labor Day picnic for rides, balloons, face painting and good food!

Kenzie only had 1 ride she could go on by herself...
and I was not paying over 4 dollars for each ride for myself....
Hopefully she'll grow an inch or 2 by next year!
#shortgirlproblems :)

Later on we went back to the ball flats to watch the fireworks!
This is Jo's first time watching fireworks and she loved it!!
Firework selfie :)
