Makenzie update...

This past week was a pretty relaxed week. On Monday I took Makenzie for her 6 month check up (a little early). This was the 1st appointment with her new doctor! After getting lost trying to find the building we finally made it...the doctor is very nice and seems to be very thorough but it definitely made me miss her pediatrician in Queens! I guess I just love her old doctor b/c it reminds me of Makenzie as a newborn! I'm hoping the doctor likes us after our appt b/c Kenzie decided she couldn't hold her pee pee any longer & had a little accident when the doctor was carrying her (without a diaper on!). OOPS! hehe anyway...Kenzie is a healthy 15.3 pounds!

Tomorrow I start working! I have been waiting for my fingerprints to clear (I will be substitute teaching). I am happy to be working and have my mom babysit but sad to leave Kenzie! Thinking back at this last month at home with her I realize that out of the 24 hours in the day, she sleeps for about 12 and the other 12 I have her in my arms! I realized at church yesterday when I dropped her off at the nursery that she definitely needed to spend some time away from Mommy when she would not let anyone else hold her! After only 5-10 minutes the nice women in the nursery paged me to come back!

Update on the swaddling dilemma...


Kenzie started out great with one arm out of her swaddle....after about 5 days with one arm out I tried both arms out with her body still wrapped up tight & that worked out well...now we are sleeping without any swaddle!!! She was always a very good sleeper but now she has times when she wakes up crying and of course I give in and swaddle her but overall she has mastered the art of sleeping like a big girl!! Congrats Kenzie! :) Here are some pics to prove it...

Yummy Veggies!!!

The other day Makenzie had her 1st taste of veggies!! We started out with carrots...I'm not too sure if she likes them or not...the next day we tried again and she cried so I hope she will learn to like them!
A couple days after trying the carrots we tried green beans...

Here are some pics from the past week! I have a lot of time on my hands these days before I start my new job so it feels like I'm always taking pics of Makenzie! I'm enjoying spending this time with my little one because I know soon it'll be back to work for Mommy!

For Christmas my sister got a Nikon D40 camera so she has been practicing taking pictures and of course I'm happy to let Kenzie be her little model...here are some recent pics...

The danger of swaddling!!

Jeff & I have been swaddling Makenzie ever since she was a newborn. We stopped for a little bit when she was about 2 months but realized how much better she slept when being swaddled so we started to use the technique again. Well little did we know that babies can become dependent on the swaddle! Now we have a 5 month old who has to be swaddled every night...I didn't even realize that most 5 month old babies sleep well with out being swaddled until I slept at my sister's house and she pointed out how funny Kenzie looked all wrapped up! When I checked the internet for articles about swaddling they recommended to gradually stop swaddling the baby one arm at a time. I can't help but laugh when I look at this picture of Kenzie's one free arm!

Wordless Wednesday

5 months old!!

I def have been slacking these past few weeks with blogging! I have been out of a whack with posting and checking my favorite blogs! Just to update from the past few weeks...Makenzie now rolls over!! This was Kenzie's Christmas present to me! She started rolling over from her belly to her back 1st and now can do both! She makes her Mama proud! Makenzie has also started eating baby cereal. She enjoys her oatmeal...next we will try veggies!! Lets see how that goes...Kenzie is having fun with her cousins! We are enjoying being upstate but it's sure cold & snowy!!
