Christmas 2010

Christmas morning started a little rough. Kenzie woke very early with a fever! We tried so hard to keep her healthy all week and she gets sick right on Christmas morning! She was up throughout the night but I didn't realize she was sick until a little before 5 AM. I gave her Tylenol and tried to get her back to sleep but she wasn't having it! She was pretty miserable at this point so I wanted to try to keep her in our bed watching tv until the medicine kicked in but she wasn't having that either! So we decided to start our Christmas morning at 5AM! I thought those crazy early hours wouldn't start for a few more years! :)
At first I was a little disappointed (well maybe more than a little disappointed...I might have had a little meltdown myself!) that she was sick and very cranky, our camcorder did not charge the night before, and when we turned on the train to show Kenzie-it didn't work properly! (We later fixed the train....I didn't set up the track correctly!) Within a few minutes Kenzie turned sweet again (after yelling at us not to take pictures! hehe).

Santa definitely did a good job! Kenzie's favorites from Santa....Weebles tree fort, choo choo train, doctor set and 2 tiny princesses from her stocking!
Around 11 my mom came over before she drove up to Syracuse and spoiled us with presents! Kenzie was feeling better by then and enjoyed unwrapping all her gifts! Kenzie's favorite from Grampy...Jesse doll (from Toy Story)! My favorite from Grampy....a new thermometer that takes a temperature in 3 seconds by swiping it quickly across the forehead! Fevers are not fun anytime but at least now I don't have to fight Kenzie to keep in under her armpit for 3+ minutes (which seems like eternity while it's being done!).

After my mom left we went over to my sister's house for an early dinner and to exchange gifts for the kids! We didn't stay too long because Kenzie was exhausted and not feeling well. Within minutes of coming home she fell asleep on the floor next to all her new toys! :)
It was another great Christmas....hope everyone had a great day too! :)

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve was pretty relaxing. Jeff worked early and was out at 3 so he was able to enjoy Christmas Eve night with us! :) Kenzie & I started out the day relaxing and cleaning. I told Kenzie I had to clean in order for Santa to come. Today while I was picking up she asked me if I was cleaning for Santa! :) I also gave Kenzie a bath! I don't think I have ever been so excited to give her a bath before....it's been over a week...so let's just say she was well overdue for a clean little body! (BTW...her boo boo looks so much better! I don't think it even bothers her anymore....she's still protective of the area but I think she's more afraid of it hurting than it actually being painful) Anyway, back to Christmas Eve...around 3 we headed over to my sister's house and met Jeff there for a very delicious dinner before church.
Here are some pictures before church...
Kenzie's "smile"
Kenzie wasn't the best behaved at church but she's 2 so I think she was the best she could be! :) At one point she loudly said "don't push me daddy!" when Jeff was trying to get her back in her seat! haha...and then she started a little fight with the boy next to us! Despite the very wiggly 2 year old with us, we were able to enjoy the Christmas Eve service!

After church I was trying to get Kenzie excited to come home to see if Santa brought her new jammies..and I guess I confused her. She was under the assumption that Santa was going to be at our house when we got home! So when she came in she wanted nothing to do with her new pj's and Dora slippers but instead searched for Santa! She was quite disappointed and a turned into a little drama queen when we told her Santa wasn't in our house! :) Not quite the reaction I was looking for! hehe....but she did look very cute in her new jammies! :)

Christmas post coming soon!

Christmas Pictures

Here are some pictures I took of Kenzie that did not make it on our Christmas card....

I must say she was a good sport during our photo shoot! I might have bribed her with some candy...but that's ok, right?!? :)

Christmas Lights

The week started off a little rough for Kenzie...on Sunday she was complaining of her fanny hurting but I just blew it off. I did notice a red bump on her bottom but I just thought it was nothing...Kenzie asked for cream on her bottom so I put some on and that was that. By Tuesday, the bump was getting bigger and Kenzie was complaining more and more about it. On Wednesday, while I was working Jeff took her in to the pediatrician just to check it out. The doctor told Jeff the bump was an abscess and she had a staph infection! Kenzie was then sent to a surgical clinic to drain the abscess. The next part is gross....just a warning! At the clinic Kenzie was laying down on her belly, and the nurse went to numb the area and must have pressed on the fanny and the abscess exploded! Even Jeff said it was gross and he does not get grossed out easily! The doctor then had to make an "x" shaped incision on the abscess to drain any extra "stuff". At first I felt horrible that I was not there but the more I hear about it I'm actually quite happy daddy was there! :) Kenzie is feeling better now...she went back this morning and everything looks good according to the doctor...but to me it still looks horrible! The poor girl has an open wound on her little bottom! She can't take a bath for a week....so lets hope by Christmas Eve it will heal enough to bathe our dirty little toddler! :)
So anyway I want to do something fun tonight so we took Kenzie around the village to look for Christmas lights! It was very cold so we bundled up! After Kenzie watched me put on my scarf she asked for one for herself. I think Santa already made her a scarf (or maybe bought it from a craft fair?!?) but she'll have to wait until Christmas for her own...she was happy wearing one of mommy's!

We were walking back home when we stumbled upon SANTA! I totally forgot Santa has a little "cottage" right here in town! It was so funny to see Santa just sitting there and it was perfect for our little walk! Kenzie didn't want anything to do with him though. When we asked Kenzie to get out of her buggy so we can get a picture she told us "no, I have to go potty". I didn't want a wet mess so we just convinced her to get a candy cane from Santa and then we were on our way!

I can't believe Christmas is one week away!!!!!! I love this season so much that I'm already sad that it's going by so quickly!

Kenzie at church

I wasn't able to post this video in my other post but it's from Kenzie's and Abbie's "performance" at church on Sunday! Like I said in the post below...it might have been the cutest thing ever! :)

*The video will be blurry unless you change the number 240p (on the lower left hand corner of the video) to 480p. Not sure what those numbers are or what they mean but they seem to help! :)

Our Sunday

Yesterday at church the 2 & 3 year old class performed a few songs!! It might have been the cutest thing ever! We found out last week they were going to sing and I have been so excited! Yea maybe most of the kids didn't know what was going on but what is cuter than a group of 2 & 3 year olds "singing"?? :)
After church Justine and Tati came over for lunch! Kenzie was so excited to see Tatiana! It took her a good 30-45 minutes or so to settle down and to stop showing off! :) Kenzie was so excited to give Tati her Christmas present...and....Kenzie was very excited for her own presents too! :)
I wanted to get the girls together for a picture but Kenzie missed her nap and so after a couple of hours of playing.....
She passed out and took a little power nap on the floor!
She sure knows how to host a play date! :)

Where's Kenzie?

I took these pictures last week and then forgot about them.
Tonight when I was looking at the picture above I wondered why I took it. I didn't even realize Kenzie was in the bed! :) Now that I look closer I can see a little foot, hand and some hair!

Holiday Weekend!

We had a wonderful weekend filled with lots of Christmas cheer! Well....Kenzie & I did...Jeff might be on the opposite end of the spectrum dealing with the crazy shoppers all weekend! He did get to enjoy some of the festivities though!

Friday night started our village's hometown holiday weekend. Almost right outside our door a big group of carolers walk through the town to the village tree. We loved it last year so I was so excited to do it again-it's just so Christmasy (I know that's not a word!). Our village plays Christmas songs at night through the loud speakers and on this night it was live Christmas music-even better! We caroled through the town and watched as the tree lights were lit! My sister & I joked how it seemed to be right out of a Christmas movie! I'm not sure if anyone has watched "One Magic Christmas" (from the early 80's) but the tree lighting was just like the one in the movie!

After the tree lighting we ate some cookies & hot cocoa and Kenzie had a lot of fun playing with her cousins!
On Saturday morning we took Kenzie to breakfast with Santa! She loves to talk about Santa and to watch him afar but not to keen on getting near him! She will ask to see Santa many times a day but is still very afraid of big guy! She did go talk to him but refused to sit near him even with mommy sitting next to her. She wasn't a fan of Santa but she was a big fan of the candy cane he gave her....it's in the next 6 pictures! :)
After breakfast Daddy had to go to work but our fun day continued at the library for crafts, cookies & a horse drawn wagon ride! She loved everything! She made her first homemade tree ornament and was very excited to show it to Daddy later in the day!
I didn't bring my camera but I did take 2 pics with my phone on the wagon ride!
After the library Kenzie was in such a good mood...she was just running around and rolling in the snow! It was so cute but it was very chilly so mean mommy had to end her fun and take her in for lunch & a nap! She wasn't too happy with mommy! :)
I think our "Hometown Holiday Weekend" is my new favorite weekend! I'm already excited for next year! :)
