A New Year!

On New Year's Eve Jeff's sisters Kathy & Nataly, Nataly's boyfriend and baby Drake came up for a visit! Jeff's mom is in Colombia, so she didn't make the trip upstate (Kenzie missed you Abuela!). We were very excited for their visit, although it was too short! The week before we were pretty much housebound so we were pretty excited for some visitors. For those who don't know, Jeff had surgery on the Wednesday after Christmas. A few weeks back Jeff found a lump, he made an appointment with his doctor and she sent him to get an ultrasound. After the ultrasound his doctor called to schedule an appointment later in the day to discuss the results. Obviously, if a doctor can't tell you results over the phone then that's probably not a good sign. The doctor suspected he had Testicular Cancer. She then scheduled an appointment with an urologist. The urologist confirmed that the tumor is cancer and needs to come out. So, Jeff had surgery to remove the tumor and his testicle on Dec. 29. He's been recovering well but still in a lot of pain! We have yet to meet with an oncologist, but we do know from the internet that the cancer he has has a very high survival rate! On Thursday we will meet with an oncologist to discuss if Jeff will need chemo or radiation! So we are hoping on Thursday to have a lot more answers about his treatment and so on! Right now Kenzie & I have been taking care of Daddy and nursing him back to health! Kenzie has been so sweet taking care of Jeff! She'll ask if he's feeling better or how his boo boo is. This week I went back to work so Jeff was alone with her for the first time after surgery. When she woke up from a nap Kenzie said "no da da, don't pick me up...you hurt your booboo"...so sweet! She loves her daddy! :) (Mommy does too!! :) I hope we were great nurses daddy, we love you!! :)

* * * *
Kenzie was super excited to see Titi & Tia! She would ask me "titi/tia here yet?" over and over again! Here she is waiting patiently for their arrival!
We got to spend some time with this handsome guy!
Kenzie was a little out of her element. She was very tired...it was past her bedtime and she didn't take a nap during the day. She was very clingy and whiny but she was finally able to enjoy unwrapping her presents!!

Drake looks like he's having fun...I think Kenzie was a little too concerned he was going to get her present!
The next day I tried to get pictures of Kenzie & Drake....I managed to get a couple cute ones!

This one makes me laugh....Kenzie was not well behaved during their visit! In her defense, I believe she was very tired from lack of naps and going to bed very late (after 10:15 PM on New Year's Eve) and getting up early! In this picture I believe Drake was worried to have a his back turned towards Kenzie. I think Drake was thinking, "are you serious, you're gonna have me turn my back on this cranky, kicking, hitting, biting 2 year old! No way!" (I don't blame you Drake!) Come on...look at Kenzie's face...she's trying to intimidate the poor baby by an intense, evil stare!
I just couldn't stop taking pictures of this little guy...he's too cute!!!

We manged to stay up for the ball to drop and then quickly went to bed after! We were very happy to have Jeff's family over because if they weren't here we would have probably gone to bed a lot earlier! Although Jeff was in a lot of pain he was able to stay up and snack on some goodies with us!

We hope everyone had a great new years! :)

Random Pics (Nov. & Dec.)

I'd hate to start the new year with old pics but I thought I would post pics from the last 2 months that I've been meaning to post! I don't want to get all out of order so here are some pics from December and late November!
I LOVE Christmas season but sometimes it feels nice to get back into a normal schedule...no more hectic days or late night shopping trips and now we finally have a little more space in our room! The corner of our room had a massive pile of presents with blankets thrown on top! It wasn't the prettiest thing to look at! :) I also love the start of a new year! I'll post pics from our New Years next!

****

Kenzie too busy playing with her gummies than to smile for the camera...

On the Wednesday before Christmas Kenzie and I went to the library for The Polar Express! It was a lot of fun...I will definitely take Kenzie back next year!

I guess when you're 2 sometimes a crayon can look like a lollypop! I walked in when Kenzie was treating herself to a crayon! eww!
Picture of the evidence....
A few weeks ago I put Kenzie to bed and a couple hours later I went by her room and looked in...from the hallway it looked like she was still reading her book! I was so surprised but turns out she must have passed out while reading the book and it was still propped up!
This seems like forever ago but back in November Kenzie washed her own dishes and loved it! She would scrub each dish....

and then put it on the stool to dry! :)

I read about a craft using pumpkin halves as stamps on another blog and decided to try it out! Kenzie was a little confused about what to do with the pumpkin halves but had fun painting anyway!
I absolutely love when I catch Kenzie doing something adorable with her toys...On this day I walked in her room and her puppies were reading books! It was so stinkin cute! Usually Kenzie lines up her animals but on this day they were loungin on the lifeguard chair...
Playing with shaving cream...I remember doing this in elementary school and loving it! I was quite older than Kenzie but she loved it too!

Just some random pictures....
I know this is a very weird picture but there is a story behind it...I know if I don't post it then I'll forget why I took a picture of the toilet! A few weeks ago I was in the shower and usually Kenzie will watch tv on my bed but this day I couldn't find her. I found her in her bathroom just finishing up using the potty....by herself! It was the cutest thing....she undressed, pee pee'd, wiped (with tons of paper!) and then was trying to get her undies back on when I walked in! Apparently, she had a little problem tearing of the toilet paper from the roll! :) I was so proud of our Lil' Miss Independent!

Christmas 2010

Christmas morning started a little rough. Kenzie woke very early with a fever! We tried so hard to keep her healthy all week and she gets sick right on Christmas morning! She was up throughout the night but I didn't realize she was sick until a little before 5 AM. I gave her Tylenol and tried to get her back to sleep but she wasn't having it! She was pretty miserable at this point so I wanted to try to keep her in our bed watching tv until the medicine kicked in but she wasn't having that either! So we decided to start our Christmas morning at 5AM! I thought those crazy early hours wouldn't start for a few more years! :)
At first I was a little disappointed (well maybe more than a little disappointed...I might have had a little meltdown myself!) that she was sick and very cranky, our camcorder did not charge the night before, and when we turned on the train to show Kenzie-it didn't work properly! (We later fixed the train....I didn't set up the track correctly!) Within a few minutes Kenzie turned sweet again (after yelling at us not to take pictures! hehe).

Santa definitely did a good job! Kenzie's favorites from Santa....Weebles tree fort, choo choo train, doctor set and 2 tiny princesses from her stocking!
Around 11 my mom came over before she drove up to Syracuse and spoiled us with presents! Kenzie was feeling better by then and enjoyed unwrapping all her gifts! Kenzie's favorite from Grampy...Jesse doll (from Toy Story)! My favorite from Grampy....a new thermometer that takes a temperature in 3 seconds by swiping it quickly across the forehead! Fevers are not fun anytime but at least now I don't have to fight Kenzie to keep in under her armpit for 3+ minutes (which seems like eternity while it's being done!).

After my mom left we went over to my sister's house for an early dinner and to exchange gifts for the kids! We didn't stay too long because Kenzie was exhausted and not feeling well. Within minutes of coming home she fell asleep on the floor next to all her new toys! :)
It was another great Christmas....hope everyone had a great day too! :)

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve was pretty relaxing. Jeff worked early and was out at 3 so he was able to enjoy Christmas Eve night with us! :) Kenzie & I started out the day relaxing and cleaning. I told Kenzie I had to clean in order for Santa to come. Today while I was picking up she asked me if I was cleaning for Santa! :) I also gave Kenzie a bath! I don't think I have ever been so excited to give her a bath before....it's been over a week...so let's just say she was well overdue for a clean little body! (BTW...her boo boo looks so much better! I don't think it even bothers her anymore....she's still protective of the area but I think she's more afraid of it hurting than it actually being painful) Anyway, back to Christmas Eve...around 3 we headed over to my sister's house and met Jeff there for a very delicious dinner before church.
Here are some pictures before church...
Kenzie's "smile"
Kenzie wasn't the best behaved at church but she's 2 so I think she was the best she could be! :) At one point she loudly said "don't push me daddy!" when Jeff was trying to get her back in her seat! haha...and then she started a little fight with the boy next to us! Despite the very wiggly 2 year old with us, we were able to enjoy the Christmas Eve service!

After church I was trying to get Kenzie excited to come home to see if Santa brought her new jammies..and I guess I confused her. She was under the assumption that Santa was going to be at our house when we got home! So when she came in she wanted nothing to do with her new pj's and Dora slippers but instead searched for Santa! She was quite disappointed and a turned into a little drama queen when we told her Santa wasn't in our house! :) Not quite the reaction I was looking for! hehe....but she did look very cute in her new jammies! :)

Christmas post coming soon!

Christmas Pictures

Here are some pictures I took of Kenzie that did not make it on our Christmas card....

I must say she was a good sport during our photo shoot! I might have bribed her with some candy...but that's ok, right?!? :)
